It is wet. It is dirty. It is tough.
Some moan. Some cry. Some bleed.
But most simply conquer…and my God is it fun.
Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest race series is back and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into it! This year it is doubly exciting because I have been selected by Men’s Health mag to represent them as a race ambassador. A big thank you to the crew for asking me to be involved.
I will be running my favourite course under the beautiful arches of Wembley Stadium on November 21, and would love as many of you as possible to join me. However, with races elsewhere in Cardiff, Nottingham, Edinburgh and Manchester there is no excuse for not signing up.
Expect slipping, sliding, ducking and diving with hay bales, kegs, tyres and tunnels. Imagine a giant playground for adults with lots of running in between, and you are almost there. It is a great day out if you want to tackle it with friends, but equally as punishing if you want to sign up as a lone wolf and smash a PB.
In my role as an ambassador for Survival, I will be coaching you through your training journey and providing you with some cheeky little exercises that will help you with each obstacle.
In the August issue of Men’s Health (available to buy now) I have provided some partner circuits you can complete with a friend, to increase your strength and cardio endurance. Expect military crawls, fireman carries and spider-man press-ups. Men’s Health will put a video up soon so you can watch how it is done. I want to make sure you get that technique right so you get a time to be proud of on race day! Keep an eye out here for the video.
In the meantime, pick up a copy of Men’s Health, try my workout and sign up to a race near you today by clicking here.
So there is all the information you need. I guess the only question left to ask is, will I see you at the finish line? Are you a survivor?
